{Make It} Paper Bag Ribbon...

Have you seen my paper bag ribbon featured in the Winter 2011 issue of Green Craft?  Here is how to make a ribbon of your own!  A few things you will need: brown paper bag, lace, scissors, paper cutter, thread, sewing machine and wooden spool is optional.

Paper Bag Ribbon Directions

Trim paper bag to about 1/2 inch wider than the finished ribbon size you want.  I used a paper cutter to do this so all my pieces were the same size.  Cut about 5 - 6 strips.

If you would like your edges to be finished, fold in each side.  This step is optional.

Begin on one end of first strip and gently fold up as you sew.  I used invisible thread for my top thread. When you get close to the end of the first strip, add the next one and continue folding in an accordion fashion as you work.  Add more strips until you have the length you want.

Once you have the ribbon the length you want, begin sewing a small piece of lace to the top with invisible thread.  You could use a colored ribbon or a torn piece of muslin for a different look.

Wrap around a package or how about onto a wooden spool for a unique gift!

Just poppin in to say I ADORE your little zipper bags, delightful and I am happy to say I have that issue of Green Craft within arm's reach. your jewelry is also pretty darn cool to say the least. Your work always makes me feel like the sunshine is reaching deep inside and pouring outwards from my heart. :)

Another great way to use paper bags. So clever and crafty, thanks for sharing!

I just bought this magazine. Congrats on a lovely spread. I like seeing those extra how to photos here. I love how your art is at once rustic, but also very professional.
